Cheng Zhang Fish Chinese Painting Print – Cats Autumn Leaves

Cats and fish: a pairing with built-in comedy, and Cheng Zhang plays it straight. Autumn leaves drift across the scene — ochres and russets against rock and tree — while the cats hold their poses with feline dignity and the fish presumably mind their own business in the water below. It is a small drama of appetite and patience, painted with a straight face.

The autumn palette is the real star: leaves in warm, falling tones, the tree's branches drawn with calligraphic confidence, rocks providing cool gray counterpoint. Cheng Zhang gives the cats real character — the set of an ear, the curl of a tail — without tipping into caricature. Water is suggested with a few horizontal strokes, enough to place the fish in their element.

This is a print with personality, best hung where it will be noticed and smiled at — a kitchen, a reading nook, a cat lover's hallway. It arrives as the unmounted huaxin sheet only, so you will choose the frame; something unfussy suits its charm. An obvious, excellent gift for the cat person in your life.
